Excellent service from these folk. Very pleased with the work they did to replace our glass conservatory roof. Very good quality, great workmanship and very tidy workers, cleaning up every day. We thought they were very good value for money and would not hesitate to recommend them. Very happy customers.

You already know what is above you
If you can name the roof you have and you want it gone, this is the short version. Polycarbonate and glass both come off the same way, and both are replaced with an insulated solid roof on the frame you already have.

The same conservatory, eight weeks apart
Same frame, same windows, same doors. Only the roof changed.

What is wrong with polycarbonate
It was cheap to build with and it does keep the rain out. Everything else about it is a compromise. It lets heat straight out in winter and traps it in summer, rain on it is loud enough to talk over, and the sheets discolour and go brittle with age.
Older polycarbonate also collects dirt and algae inside the flutes, which is the streaking you can see from an upstairs window and cannot clean off from below. That one is not fixable.
And what is wrong with glass
Less, honestly. Glass is quieter than plastic, it looks better, and modern units are a long way ahead of what went into conservatories twenty years ago. If your glass roof is in good condition and you are happy with the room, you may not need us at all.
What glass still is, though, is a cold roof with nothing above your head to slow heat moving through it. It also throws glare, which is what washes out a television and fades a carpet. People who replace a glass roof almost always do it for the temperature, not for a leak.
Panels, or the whole roof?
Worth being straight about, because they are very different jobs and very different money.
A couple of panels
›If two sheets have cracked or a seal has gone, replacing those is the cheaper fix and it stops the leak. It also leaves you the same cold roof.
The whole roof
›Everything comes off and an insulated tiled roof goes on. This is the one that changes the temperature, the noise and the glare.
Which is worth it
›If the roof is near the end of its life anyway, spending on panels now and the roof later is spending twice. We will tell you what we would do.
The frame stays, the roof changes
Taking a polycarbonate or glass roof off does not mean taking the conservatory down. The glazing bars and the roof structure go; the frame, the windows, the doors and the brickwork stay exactly where they are.
Floors are covered before anything is lifted, the old roof leaves with us, and outside gets cleaned down at the end. Two to three days on site for most conservatories.

Excellent service, really impressed with the whole project from start to finish. Can’t recommend enough. If you’re looking to have your old conservatory roof replaced with something more usable warm roof should be your first port of call.

MarieQuestions about polycarbonate and glass
My polycarbonate roof leaks. Can you just fix it?
Often yes, if it is a panel or a seal. Tell us what is happening when you call and we will be straight about whether a repair is the sensible answer or money you will spend again in two years.
Can you reuse my glass in the new roof?
No. The new roof is a different structure with insulation built into it, so the old glazing has no place in it. Skylights can be built in wherever you want light overhead.
Is a solid roof heavier than the glass I have now?
The system uses lightweight tiles on a timber structure and is designed to sit on a standard conservatory frame. What we check at survey is the condition of the frame and base rather than the strength on paper.
What happens to the old roof?
It leaves with us. Removal and disposal are in the quote, not added afterwards.
Ready to lose the polycarbonate?
Leave a name and a number and we will ring you back to arrange a look at it. No sales appointment, no pressure.
